Matt Script is a London-born mixed media artist with over 25 years experience experimenting with a mixed range of lettering styles old and new. Their work explores blending calligraphy, script, modern to medieval forms of lettering and pop-culture imagery through a mix of pens, spray paint, ink, and brushwork to create chaotic yet organised alphabets that aren’t traditional compositions.

Inspired by West Coast gang graffiti, 5th to 15th century monastic scribes, decorative Victorian lettering, tattoo culture, anime / manga and pop culture imagery. Their practice is rooted in the graffiti philosophy that there are no ground rules or set frameworks. Matt’s time as a graffiti artist, a student at Chelsea Art College and the London College of Printing (now the London College of communication), and a tattoo artist has shaped their signature style.

His range of work includes murals, custom lettering commissions, one off pieces and limited edition prints.

Matt’s work has been exhibited in London, including Saatchi Gallery, Bangkok, Cape Town,Chicago and Virginia.
