Matt Script is a London-born mixed media artist with more 25 years of experience experimenting with all forms and styles of lettering. Their work explores blending calligraphy, script, modern to medieval forms of lettering, and pop-culture imagery through a mix of pens, spray paint, ink, and brushwork to create chaotic yet organised alphabets that aren’t traditional compositions.

Inspired by West Coast gang graffiti, 5th to 15th century monastic scribes, decorative Victorian lettering, and anime / manga, their practice is rooted in the graffiti philosophy that there are no ground rules or set frameworks. Their time as a graffiti artist, a student at Chelsea Art College and the London College of Printing (now the London College of communication), and a tattoo artist has shaped their signature style.
